"The Risen Lord" by He Qi When the artist He Qi visited the Concordia Seminary campus recently, he told the following story about the artwork above, “The Risen Lord.” A church in China commissioned the work from He Qi for their sanctuary without any strings attached.

Letterman going public on Thursday night’s “The Late Show” I was dumbfounded by today’s Saturday morning TV coverage of the Letterman extortion scandal. First, it was NBC’s Today show, where a New York Post gossip columnist categorized it as simply consenting adults doing what consenting adults do. No big whoop

My first Father’s Day as a father

Giotto’s “Saint Francis preaching to the birds” This is my very first Father’s Day as both a son and a father. Other than the blazing heat that feels more like August than June, it has been a very good day. When we found out we were expecting, a good friend and fellow writer who is also a father urged me to write down thoughts and events as much as possible, as a kind of fatherly discipline.
