“The King of Love My Shepherd Is”

A Concordia Seminary, St. Louis choir, led by Director of Music Arts Dr. James F. Marriott, sings “The King of Love My Shepherd Is” (Lutheran Service Book 709). Our series of hymn recordings celebrates the rich intersection of music and theology in our Lutheran heritage. This hymn poetically pairs Psalm 23 and John 10. The hymn writer interprets Psalm 23 Christologically, with Jesus as the Good Shepherd who lovingly cares for each one of us. We invite you to meditate on the text with us or even to sing along as you listen!
