No small wonder that King Saul saw the upstart David as a threat and spent the rest of his life trying to kill him. But the women have other things on their mind, including Saul’s own smitten daughter, Michal (see 1 Samuel 18:20). And if you read the account of David’s life in the biblical books of 1 and 2 Samuel, it reads like the archetypal account of the Hollywood celebrity: quick rise from unknown to fame (including the most famous underdog story of them all), live the life of overwhelming luxury, then deal with all the trouble that fame …
