Introducing Faith Walk (formerly known as LutherHostel)… Come to the idyllic Concordia Seminary campus to enjoy three days of stimulating ideas and conversation, fellowship and friendship, rest and rejuvenation. Faith Walk will take place October 3-5 (Saturday to Monday). Concordia Seminary provides on-campus accommodations, or there are hotels in close proximity to campus. This year’s hosts are Rev. David and Jeanette Meggers. David is associate pastor for adults and older adults at Concordia Lutheran Church, Kirkwood, Missouri. The retreat also includes a meal hosted by Concordia Seminary President Dale Meyer and his wife, Diane.
This year’s theme: In Awesome Wonder: Experiencing the Arts in Christian Perspective
“O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder consider all the works Thy hand hath made…” begins the old favorite hymn. The mighty thunder, the forest glades, the gentle breeze…it is easy to get caught up in the greatness of God’s creation in nature. But God is also at work in the works made by other hands, and how great their “art” is. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from and talk with exceptional artists (musicians, visual artists, writers, etc) about the connection between their Christian faith and art, while also getting a taste of some of the great and unique art and architecture in and around St. Louis. It promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience to show us how God is at work in all the arts of his creation.
Presenters include popular jazz vocalist Erin Bode, artist Sarah Bernhardt, musician Jim Marriott, writer Travis Scholl, and Concordia Seminary Professor David Schmitt. Tours will visit the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art at St. Louis University and the renowned St. Louis Art Museum.
