Call for Papers: Theological Symposium (Sept 20-21, 2016)

Symposium 2016 bannerThe Theological Symposium committee invites proposals for open sectionals during the 27th Annual Theological Symposium, September 20-21, 2016, at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

The title this year is “From Font to Grave: Catechesis for the Lifelong Disciple.”

The Symposium theme seeks to think afresh how we, as churches and church leaders, form disciples of Christ, not only in eighth grade but throughout their entire lives. As such, the committee invites best practices and sectional ideas that seek to recover and renew the church’s catechetical tradition, discovering anew what it means to be Christ’s own and to live under him in his kingdom today.

Proposals can cover anything along the waterfront from children’s ministry, confirmation (youth or adult), family ministry, older adults, to anything in between. The committee seeks proposals not only from pastors and theologians, but from DCEs, deaconesses, educators, and other church workers involved in catechesis and faith formation.

Sectional presentations are 45 minutes long, allowing time for questions and discussion. A paragraph abstract should be submitted to Erika Bennett via email (ce@csl.edu), or fax (314-505-7393). Deadline is August 15, 2016.
