Hosea lived out God’s message of redemption in a very tangible way. What does this eighth century BC prophet have to say to us today?
Hosea, for the early church, was a living book, said Dr. David Lewis. Jesus quotes it, the apostles, Peter and Paul use it. Hosea is a book we ought to read. We tend to go to the New Testament, and ignore books of the Old Testament. We tend to emphasize the prophet Isaiah over the other prophets. But Hosea was, for Jesus and for the early church, a living book.
