World-renowned archeologist Dr. Jodi Magness shares her findings from decades of excavations in Israel. “The world of Jesus 2000 years ago is as alien to us as life on Mars. It was a completely different world,” said Dr. Magness. “We excavate the remains of ordinary people…populations that might not otherwise be represented in the literary sources. In those cases, archeology may give us our only information about those times and places,” Dr. Magness continued. Join us as Dr. Jodi Magness and Dr. David Adams discuss the culture in which Jesus lived.
Dr. Magness has participated in 20 excavations in Israel and Greece. She co-directed the excavations at Masada and directed the excavations at Huqoq in Galilee.
She has advised and appeared on documentaries produced by NOVA, National Geographic, PBS, and the Smithsonian Channel. Dr. Magness has written 13 books, her most recent is Jerusalem Through the Ages: from Its Beginning to the Crusades (Oxford University Press).
