New podcast launch Sept. 15! “Tangible: Theology Learned and Lived”

 

“Tangible: Theology Learned and Lived” a new podcast featuring the faculty of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will debut Friday, Sept. 15. The podcast aims to encourage and challenge listeners to deepen their theology and live out their faith in Christ.

New 30-minute episodes will be released on the 15th and 30th of each month. Each episode will feature a conversation with various Seminary faculty exploring the ways in which theology permeates all aspects of life. Jessica Bordeleau, coordinator of digital publishing, serves as producer and host; facilitating topical discussions with one to three faculty members.

“The faculty at Concordia Seminary are renowned for their contributions to religious studies and to the church at large. ‘Tangible: Theology Learned and Lived’ puts that knowledge in the hands of listeners,” Bordeleau said. “This podcast is for anyone who wants to explore theology and the ways it applies to everyday life.”

In the podcast’s first episode, “Where is Jesus Right Now?,” Seminary President Emeritus Dr. Dale A. Meyer discusses the symbolism in the new stained glass windows in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus on campus. He asks: “Where is Jesus now? If we don’t emphasize what Christ is doing now — that the crucified One is risen, ascended and in the control room … you create a vacuum, and a number of things happen in the vacuum.” To hear more, listen to the episode!

In the second episode, “When a Preacher Can’t Speak,” Professor of Historical Theology Dr. Joel Elowsky shares some personal insights into his own vocal cord disfunction, which left him unable to speak for four years. “It was truly one of those dark tunnels,” he said. “I was totally reliant on God with this one.” Tune in Friday for a candid discussion about theology and life.

Beginning on September 15th, 2023 “Tangible: Theology Learned and Lived” will be available on Scholar, most podcast platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts. It will also be found right here on the Concordia Theology website!

    Dear Jessica,
    Thank you for taking on this valuable ministry of podcasting. I have recently discovered the Kickstart series and enjoy it immensely. As a pastor, I appreciate all the insight I can gather to find Jesus in the Sunday readings. I just listened to Drs. Meyer’s and Schmitt’s podcast on Where is Jesus Now. I do not see a link [should it not be highlighted in blue?] to Dr. Meyer’s sermon. Please help me find this. Also, you mention other access points to the podcasts [such as Spotify and a couple others I do not remember]. I am unfamiliar with these ‘vehicles.’ I do not suppose it should be your task to drag me to these places, but I wonder if I am shortcutting my access by just accessing Tangible and Kickstart resources via the Sem website. Lastly I do not see how I can subscribe to your podcast services. Thanks again for your kind consideration.

      Thank you for the message, I’m so glad to hear that you are enjoying “Lectionary Kickstart” and the first episode of “Tangible: Theology Learned and Lived”. I appreciate your words of affirmation! I have updated the description of that episode to include a link to Dr. Meyer’s sermon. Here is the link.
      You can continue to find episodes of both podcasts at concordiatheology.org. “Lectionary Kick-start” episodes are posted each Monday, “Tangible” on the 15th and 30th of the month.
      You can also access the episodes on other podcast hosting platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Google Podcasts. You are able to “subscribe” to specific podcasts on those platforms, which means that they will notify you when a new episode is released. I hope this has been helpful!
