New Review of Lessing’s Isaiah

The periodical published by the Institute for Biblical Research, known as “Bulletin for Biblical Research” (23/4, 2013), included a positive review of Reed Lessing’s commentary on Isaiah 40-55. Gary Smith of Bethel Seminary writes:

“Overall, this is an outstanding and unique commentary with valuable lexical and syntactic notes to help those who need a little assistance with their Hebrew and with NT application. At the same time, the commentary does not break new ground in understanding Isaiah 40-55, but it offers many solid Hebrew explanations that are not available in most other series; therefore it deserves a place in every pastor’s library. Concordia Publishing House deserves great credit for being willing to publish a series like this.” (p. 587)

The same issue also gives a good review for David S. Hasselbrook’s published dissertation, which he wrote here at Concordia Seminary under James Voelz: Studies in New Testament Lexicography: Advancing toward a Full Diachronic Approach with the Greek Language (WUNT; Mohr Siebeck, 2011).

It is good to see the scholarly work done at Concordia Seminary receive such attention in outside scholarly circles.
