Calling lay people, students involved in homiletical education, pastors and others interested in the proclamation of the Gospel in today’s world: Concordia Seminary, St. Louis’ Summer Lay Bible Institute is for you!
Meeting on campus under the theme “In Awesome Wonder: Finding Our Place in God’s Creation” Saturday, Aug. 6, the workshop will be presented by Dr. Charles Arand, director of the Seminary’s Center for the Care of Creation and the Eugene E. and Nell S. Fincke Graduate Professor of Theology.
“Martin Luther once lamented that we fail to see the daily miracles of God because they are so common,” Arand said. “He suggested that if there were no eggs in the world, and someone brought one from Calcutta, everyone would regard it as a ‘miracle of miracles.’ But because they are a common sight, they fail to be regarded as wonders of God. This tells us there might be something more to creation that is being missed, something that can bring wonder into our lives and give us a fresh sense of gratitude and contentment.”
The fee for the Summer Lay Bible Institute is $20 and the deadline to register is Aug. 1. For more information, click here, call 314-505-7286 or email [email protected].
